Building upon his first message on following Jesus, Kong Hee teaches that there is a cost to following Christ—it is not an easy thing. As Jesus said in Luke 9:23, we are firstly to deny ourselves, and then to follow Him. Denying oneself is to not give in to unrighteous cravings. Pastor Kong details how to resist and repudiate self-gratification, self-vindication and self-exaltation like Jesus did in Matthew 4—we can't do it without the Holy Spirit. Next, we are to follow Jesus, which is to develop the nine fruit of the Spirit. Listen to this sermon and discover how you can begin to be a follower of Jesus by doing the opposite of what the self wants, and doing as Jesus did.

As in Matthew 8:21/22 - Aother disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead." Without Jesus, we're dead on our sins. Also, we must be the dead not to follow the Son of God IN THE FLESH AT THAT TIME and over/above the love of ourselves/our dead father.
